Hakuna Matata!

I hope you guys like the new layout of the page, if there are any of you actually reading this, that is.

Anyways, I am very excited! In a few short hours, I will be sitting in a theatre watching the tour of LION KING! We bought these tickets almost 4 months ago so we could go, and we have really good seats. A few people I know already went and said that it was amazing. If anyone's seen it, or is going soon, let me know! You can see the tour schedule here, and from what I've heard, you should definitely think about going, and it's on tour until September, so you've got awhile!

Today I also bought Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins, the sequel to the Hunger Games (and check out the website, it's really cool!)

Can you tell I really like adding a lot of links?
k

p.s. I'll update after the show (probably tomorrow?) about how it was!

Books:
-Paper Towns
-Looking for Alaska
-The Odyssey
-The Hunger Games
-Metamorphoses: A Play

I'm doing really badly! Book suggestions please?

Brief 100 Book Challenge Update

I HAVE BEEN FAILING AT THE BOOK CHALLENGE.
I ended up giving away my Abundance of Katherines, because I needed an awesome gift to give my friend, and they're were no copies at BN!
So, I've only read:
-Paper Towns - John Green
-Looking for Alaska - John Green
- The Odyssey - Homer [for school]

I feel like I've read more..... maybe i've forgotten one?

But I am reading The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins at the present, and have The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath lined up next!

New Layout and Banner!

So, I decided to mix things up over here at 'the show must go on...', and make this blog a little less generic. You can now see a beautiful (hah.) banner, some icons on the side, and a goodbye banner on the page. I made them on Picnik while on my laptop, and they don't have the best design or quality. However, I felt that the page lacked pizazz, and now it has pizazz!

Not a whole lot is going on at the present that I haven't told you about. I went out to Olive Garden for my friend's birthday and had a good time, and bought a few things at the mall.

Really, I've just been working on my C.I.T. application and hanging out in my sweatpants!

It is now time for sleep!

midtermsareoveryay

Today, at 9:40 AM I, Kylie, completed all of my mid-terms.

HOORAY!

I also just found out that I got an A on my Latin IIB midterm!

So, they all went really well. Except for math. No one in our class even got to finish the test, so I'm a little bit worried! He says that he's going to curve it, but he also said that we'd get a formula sheet on the test, and that we shouldn't stress out about math. Yeah, I don't trust you anymore.

But, that is not the point of this post! This post is going to be filled with happy! Because, truly, I am REALLY happy! Today is only thursday, but I got to leave school at 9:40 right after I finished my exam!

But, that is not the root of my extreme happiness! This weekend is going to be AMAZING. I have fun plans every single day! On Friday, my friends and I are all going out to dinner for our friends birthday, and then we're going to go to the mall! On saturday, my Christmas present from my aunt was that she'd take me to the spa, and we're going! After that, we're going to NORTHAMPTON, MA! The place where all things are awesome! On Sunday my grandma is taking me shopping (Yeah, I love my grandma. You got a problem with it?), and then I am going to the Cheesecake Factory to celebrate the end of exams with another friend.

Unfortunately, I still have school tomorrow. So I'm going to go to bed!

OH WAIT
ANOTHER REASON THINGS ARE AWESOME:
Today I started my application to CIT at the camp I've gone to for 11 years!
I've waited for this summer for 11 years!

brainfreeze.

Owchee, I ate my Popsicle too fast!

Alright so,

Kylie, shouldn't you be studying?
Yes.

Are you procrastinating?
Yes!

I mean, the internet is so distracting! There's Facebook and Twitter, the two I use the most. But theres also formspring, youtube, checking the new clothes at F21, watching old TV episodes, listening to distracting music, going on swaptree, and my favorite; playing an internet spelling bee. Yeah, I do spell words when I get bored.

So my point is that I am doing everything possible to not do my latin culture reading and civics reading to prep for tomorrow. Like helping my other friends with studying, and eating a butter croissant that my friend got from Starbucks and somehow ended up in my bag. Yum.

I'm going to try to get this done so I can sleep at a reasonable hour.

i want you, i want you so bad!

Isn't this top adorable? I love it!

First of all, I love Fifi Lapin. I mean, who wouldn't? She's the most adorable bunny who wears the clothes we all want to have.

Second, I love Forever 21. Basically everything about F21 makes me really happy! They have the most cute and fashionable clothes out of anyone, and they manage to get that to you at a totally great price! Plus, they have a much bigger selection of clothes than any other store.

This particular top is from one of F21's other lines, Heritage 1981. The line is a little more expensive, but all the clothes are super amazing, and definitely worth it. They're still cheaper than what you pay at other stores.

procrastinate

Procrastinate, verb.
Derived from the Latin cras, meaning tomorrow.

Not does that completely pertain to what I want to talk about , but it's also what I'm studying for. Yeah, it's that lovely time of the year where all your teachers make you take midterms and finals. I have a Literature, Biology, Latin III, and Algebra II midterm, and a Civics and Health final. I'm feeling pretty confident about most of them, except for Algebra II. Now, me and math have never really gotten along. I'm sort of in an abusive relationship with math. And leaving that little metaphoric thing, I've never had a good math teacher, except for Geometry. That doesn't really help me with Algebra II. But I've been studying a lot today, despite the fact that I am SO TIRED after festival/conference yesterday (yes, I am going to talk about it, I promise, not that you care), and my constant urges to just watch repeats of Greek on my laptop*. So, tomorrow I am waking up super-duper early (okay, like 8:30) to study, so I can go to the mall for a couple of hours, and still feel confident about the tests. Gosh, it really sucks to have to get up early on your DAY OFF. Sacrifice I guess, since I had an awesome Saturday!

So, I guess it's time I tell you about Festival and Conference!

Last weekend, Festival was about a three hour drive (plus time to stop), so I had to be at my school at five o'clock in the morning. Doesn't that sound like the most awful thing? Plus, one kid was a half-hour late - so we had to wait in the cold for them. Not fun.
We stopped at Dunkin Donuts on the way there, and put them into a frenzy, and carried on our way. We got there late because of that kid, and missed a lot of the 'meet people' part of the festival, which was NOT COOL! But, I took a Special Effects Make-Up and Improv workshop, watched IEs (Individual events, like contrasting monologues or a song), and participated in Tech Challenge!
The make-up workshop was so cool! The woman running the workshop put this really disgustingly amazing gash on my arm, and it was SO COOL. All in all, I had a really great time!

I think I had more fun at Conference this weekend, though. Just an FYI, there really isn't a difference in festival and conference, they were just called something different for some reason.
But anyways, the first workshop I took was African Dance: Raising Awareness on HIV/AIDs (HIV/AIDS was part of the theme for the conference). I thought it was going to be really silly, but it actually ended up being really amazingly fun and touching. Before we learned the dance, our instructor, who'd recently been to Ghana, told us that some women there who have babies and cannot feed them will end up having to have sex with men in order to feed their babies, and then they'll contract AIDS. I thought that this was awful, and that was the general premise of the dance.
Then, I went to watch IE's, and this time I was performing. So, after we watched some, we had lunch, and then it was my turn to go. I spent most of lunch practicing my contrasting monologues, and I thought that they were pretty good, considering I hadn't spent a great deal of time on them. When I did it, it was BAD. I had the acting part down, but I totally forgot the words when I got up there, and it was not so good. Somehow, I wasn't totally devastated though, since it was my first time, I guess.

After that, we had a performance from a local company's cast of Rent, and they did Seasons of Love for us, and we talked about HIV/AIDS and spaghetti. Now that probably sounds weird, but so people wouldn't feel uncomfortable talking about some topics, they created the euphemism spaghetti. Basically if you are going to eat spaghetti, you have to wear a bib, or else you'll get a stain. Even if you don't get marinara sauce on your spaghetti, just butter, you're still having spaghetti and can get stains.
Haha, get it? Well, it was sort-of the ongoing joke of the day.
We also had a performance from an improv group, whose workshop I took after.

On the way home, we had a some of the most fun I've EVER had. We stopped at Subway for dinner, about a half hour before the place closed, and there's like 25 of us. So we sent them into overdrive trying to make us all sandwiches. When we were all eating, they told us it was amazing what they'd managed, and they wanted to take a picture of us all to prove the awesomeness of what had happened.
Then, we had a dance party in the Subway, and our drama teacher was dancing and headbanging with us. It. Was. Amazing.

Alright, well, I'm going to go to sleep shortlyyy <3

*Okay, I know what you're thinking. "OMG eww, she's one of those girls who watches ABC Family and is a looserrr." Whatever. I am a loser, and it's my guilty pleasure and I DON'T CARE.
And also, if anyone else watches Greek, you may know that the show is possibly getting cancelled (SAD FACE!), so you should help Save Greek! Oh, and a lot of the episodes are on sale on itunes, and the new season starts next Monday! Woohoo! /endgreekfangirlness.

hay nowwww

Today I thought that I would share with you my best friend of the moment, Happy Bunny (The flower in the pic is NOT part of Happy Bunny, just my headband). So, Happy Bunny and I began our relationship when I was really little. I was truly in love with this bunny. So much, I begged and begged my parents for a real bunny (of course that didn't work though, since we've always had cats).

When I was a little one, I spent my weekends with my grandparents. On Friday night, I would go over my grandma and grandpa's house, and on sunday nights I stayed over at my gram's house to go to church. Now, Happy Bunny lived at my grandma and grandpa's house, so I only got to spend part of fridays and saturdays with my beloved bunny. Now, I'm sure that Happy Bunny didn't love that too much. Until, one day I took Happy Bunny home with me, the first time Happy Bunny had been to the place I live. Now, I got to spend so much time with Happy Bunny!

Now, since I loved her so much, I think my mom kept tabs on her, and after awhile when I started to spend less time with Happy Bunny, I think my mom brought her back to my grandmas. Being a child of the 90's, we live in the era where new things are awesome, and then I was into that. So, I moved on from Happy Bunny, spending my time on a Nintendo XP playing games, or hanging out with real people (GASP!). So, I think about a year ago, my grandma moved into a new house. They were unpacking everything, and they found.......

HAPPY BUNNY!

My mom cleaned off Happy Bunny, and brought her to me. Needless to say, I was overjoyed.

I'm sure you're wondering how I managed such a GENIUS name? Well, I mean, it is pretty awesome!

Age

Sometimes I find myself thinking that I'd rather talk to my friends parents. Or just other adults in general. Sometimes I even don't go out with my friends so I can hang out with my mom. She's sort of my best friend. Does that make me weird?

Not to say that I don't totally love my friends, because I do, and I LOVE spending time with them. But, every once in a while, I find myself listening to what adults are saying, and wanting to jump into their conversations. Take the theatre festival I went to, we had to take a three hour trip there, and a three hour trip back. On the way home, I was sitting towards the front of our van, and I just sat there for awhile wishing all of my friends would be quiet so that I could listen to my theatre director and friends mom's conversation. Okay, yeah. Maybe that is a little weird.

I mean, I am an only child, so I did grow up with people who are significantly older than me. Not to mention, I didn't have many friends other than the kids of my parents friends until I was about seven. And they didn't even really like me. So, it wasn't until 6th or 7th grade that I really had friends I cared about (Although, some of my friends from elementary school go to school with me now, and they used to not like me, and now we're really good friends. I guess I was just that weird then!). So, I guess I've sort of answered this question for myself. Yes, I am weird. Yes, it is weird that I like talking to adults more than my friends at times. But, you know what? Who cares! =]

For real, though, my friends are the bomb diggity, and I LOVE them to death! I don't know, I guess sometimes the things that people my age talk about I just get over. I want people to, I don't know, care about things more, I guess?

Well, this has been a very insteresting talk with myself, but now I must sleep! I'll talk about festival and other things very soon!

Pre-Festival Jitters

^ Okay, not so much. But, I am very excited! Not really nervous, just that nervous excited you get (or I do, anyway) when you know you are going to meet cool new people! I hope they have good workshops, because I love to learn new theatrey things. Hoorayy!

Night now, me and my best friend Abby are sitting on my bed reading excerpts from Nightlight, by the Harvard Lampoon. It's this HILARIOUS Twilight parody, and it's actually really funny for Twilight lovers and haters. It's about Belle Goose and Edwart Mullen. =].

Well, since I have to be up at the crack of dawn (really 5AM), I am going to go off so that I can get ready and get at least a few hours of sleep!

Love you if you read this!
